AABC Season Update

May 1, 2020
AABC will be conducting the following tournaments this summer.
- STAN MUSIAL WORLD SERIES (open): 7/14-7/19 Pueblo, Colorado
- DON MATTINGLY WORLD SERIES (open): 7/9-7/15 Melissa, Texas
- CONNIE MACK CLASSIC (open): 7/21-7/26 Springfield, MO
- CONNIE MACK REGIONAL 7/7-7/12 Cheyenne, WY
- CONNIE MACK REGIONAL 7/11-7/14 Enid, OK
While the AABC sanctions these tournaments, it is up to each team, parent and player to determine if they feel it is medically safe to participate. We believe each host site will take all necessary precautions to protect the participants but please note we are not involved in any way in establishing or executing those precautions. They will be the exclusive province of each host site. If you have any questions about the precautions the host will utilize please talk to the host site before signing up. Also, while we believe these tournaments will go forward as scheduled, we are not, in any way, responsible if they are cancelled as a result of a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the state or community they are being played.

Due to concerns surrounding the novel/ coronavirus (COVID-19) and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Preventative, the world health organization, various state and local health departments and other health authorities, the American Amateur Baseball Congress, Inc. (AABC) is immediately implementing health and safety procedures as part of a proactive approach to the preventing the spread of germs.
AABC is still planning tournaments for all divisions later this summer. We expect to provide ongoing updates and recommendations as we deal with these unprecedented circumstances.
We strongly recommend all AABC participants and organizations follow their respective states’ public health department recommendations and other county and/or local authorities including the various government agencies. We are suggesting the following measures be followed if you have not already begun effective immediately:
“No Contact- Handshake Policy”
AABC is recommending a precautionary “no-handshake policy” to be observed at every level of the organizations until further notice.
Maintain Good Hygiene Practices
All AABC employees, memberships and participants in AABC- sanctioned events should be aware of the coronavirus risk and take the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to germs. This includes maintaining good hygiene practices. We strongly recommend the following:
- Wash your hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time.
- If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol- based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol; this is suggested after any physical contact with another person or with a shared surface.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your mouth and nose- with a tissue, if possible, when coughing or sneezing, then properly discard the tissue in the trash.
- Avoid close contact with anyone who is coughing or sneezing or who is otherwise sick.
- Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
We will provide updates during the next few weeks as they become necessary, but no later than May 1, 2020.
